20 Mile Stand Filling With Development
Condos To Be Built In Old Stage Coach Stop Area

A developer wants to build on the last part of the historic 20 Mile Stand area in Deerfield Twp. not developed.

Twenty-mile stand was a former stage coach stop and received its name because that is the distance to Cincinnati. The developer wants to transform the former stop for weary travelers to an upscale area with condominiums and higher-end retail.

Paul Grammas, co-owner of Grammas Development in Concinnati, plans to develop a complex called the Acropoli Center which will feature retail and restaurants along Montgomery Road. He said there will be no fast food restaurants.

The proposed office and retail development, called the Miller Planned Unit Development, received the OK to proceed with the township's zoning commission with a more detailed site plan.

In the back of the development, which abuts the Nantucket subdivision and is to the north of the Village of Heritage Green, will have offices. Grammas said it would be more like insurance and doctors offices in the development.

Grammas calls the project "a neighborhood-type" development. The last development he worked on was in Symmes Twp. along Union Cemetery and Montgomery roads.

"We feel we would like to come to Deerfield Twp. with the development," Grammas said.

Cathy Mueller of Gridiron Development said the other part of the Miller PUD, which is across the street, will be the future home of The Maples at 20 Mile Farm. The complex will feature ranch-style comdominiums randing from $174,900 to $225,00 in the historic 20 Mile Stand area. The first condos will be available in April, Mueller said.

"Montgomery Road is becoming a revitalized area, with a future expansion and a possible YMCA down the road from the development. That is why people will want to move to The Maples at 20 Mile Farm," Mueller said.

"Location is everything, but this location is awesome," she said.

The development will have either stone or brick accents and each condominium is separated by a two-car garage. There will also be a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, and three ponds.

"The entrance is going to resemble the entrance at Nantucket," Mueller said.
